The new face of downtown Athens divides the public. The current changes, which have brought about traffic pandemonium, will include more sidewalks, bike lanes in central streets and more green spaces around the historic center. Although the aesthetic results are expected to be very pleasing, there is a debate on whether enough attention has been paid to the implications in transportation, the cost, as well as whether it is desirable to do something like that amidst the pandemic, now that the citizens have good reasons to use their cars.
