{"id":10597,"date":"2025-11-04T17:39:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T15:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qed.gr\/people-of-greece-weekly-snapshot-4-7-04-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T10:54:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T08:54:07","slug":"people-of-greece-weekly-snapshot-4-7-04-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qed.gr\/en\/people-of-greece-weekly-snapshot-4-7-04-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"People of Greece \u2013 Weekly snapshot 4-7\/04\/2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7439\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Screenshot_2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"489\" height=\"170\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This week, the <strong>People of Greece<\/strong> research platform asked Greeks for their opinion on the boycott of goods and services, the effects of President Trump&#8217;s new tariff policy, the impact of the minimum wage increase on the national economy and the average household, the choice of assisted suicide, the concept of &#8220;anti-systemicism&#8221; and the responsibility of football team presidents for violence on the stadiums.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The findings showed that:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Seven out of ten Greeks say they are ready to boycott products and services provided by an employer that does not respect working conditions or by a country of origin they oppose politically.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With the percentage of Greeks who believe that Trump&#8217;s new tariff policy will negatively impact the Greek economy reaching 75%, the Greek audience seems willing to engage in a possible boycott of US products.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The recent increase in the minimum wage is not perceived by the vast majority of Greeks as a measure that will have a positive impact on the Greek economy and the average household.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The presidents of football teams are perceived as being responsible for the violence on the stadiums by the majority of Greeks, and even by half of the Olympiacos fans.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assisted suicide as an option is supported by the majority of Greeks, especially the most educated strata, regardless of the age of the person who wishes to end his or her life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The concept of &#8216;anti-systemicity&#8217; polarizes Greeks, although one in four reserves the right to attribute a sign to it. The concept is associated with different actions for those who give it a positive connotation and for those who give it a negative one.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>See in detail the opinion of Greeks in the infographics below.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Consumer ethics<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Seven out of ten Greeks have avoided buying a product or service to punish the provider for some reason.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The employer and the country of origin of a product are the factors that would prompt more than half of Greeks to boycott products and services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">45% of Greeks would not proceed to buy products from a provider who evades taxes, while 15% of Greeks would not proceed to buy from a provider who does not share their political views.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7517\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b11-5-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"820\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7519\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b12-4-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"820\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Trump tariffs<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Three out of four Greeks believe that US tariffs will have a negative impact on the Greek economy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Three out of five Greeks believe that the policy line President Trump is taking in his second term is in the wrong direction. The percentage of right-wing voters who reject the Trump line is lower among voters positioned in the right hemisphere, and is in the minority among voters of far-right parties.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7521\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b17-4-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"820\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Minimum wage increase<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Two out of three Greeks do not believe that an increase in the minimum wage is a sign of an improvement in the Greek economy. This view is shared by about half of the voters of the New Democracy party.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Three out of four Greeks do not believe that raising the minimum wage is a sign of an improvement in the economic situation of the average household. This view is shared by three out of five voters of the South-West.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7523\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b15-4-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"820\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Marinakis Case<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Two out of three Greeks believe that the presidents of football teams are responsible for incidents of violence by their team&#8217;s organised fans. The percentage is lower among Olympiacos fans and higher among those Greeks who say they are not fans of any team.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7525\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b16-6-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"587\" height=\"830\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Assisted suicide<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">54% of Greeks would support the wish of a 35-year-old terminal cancer patient to end his or her life, rising to 68% for the same wish of an 80-year-old patient. The percentages are significantly higher among the more educated classes. The younger age groups differentiate their responses between the two cases, holding significant reservations for the case of the 35-year-old patient.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7527\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b13-4-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"820\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7529\" src=\"https:\/\/qed.gr\/marketresearch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b14-4-724x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"820\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Antisystemicity<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The concept of &#8220;anti-systemicity&#8221; is not understood by all Greeks in the same way. 40% of Greeks (mainly the younger groups and those who position themselves in the left hemisphere) give the concept of &#8220;anti-systemicity&#8221; a positive connotation, while 33% (mainly older groups and those who position themselves in the right hemisphere) give it a negative connotation. 27% assign no sign or say they do not know.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The sign assigned to anti-systemicity leads to the classification as anti-systemic of different acts and thus demonstrates the different interpretations of the meaning of the concept. Those who see it positively identify it with participation in strikes, participation in the demonstrations for the victims of the Tempi and the public expression of opposition in the professional sphere.
