04 Nov The week 27/5-2/6/2016 in pictures

Summer has arrived in Greece, a bit earlier this year. Greek people, as well as tourists are enjoying the sun and the good weather.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the workers of Athens Ledra, one of the most famous hotels in Athens which has unfortunately been closed. The people staying there had to change hotels, while the employees are now facing unemployment.

Meanwhile in Germany, Bundestag has voted a declaration that the mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks during World War One was “genocide” and that Germany was also responsible being an ally of the Ottoman Empire.

The approval of the declaration of the “Armenian genocide” has quite angered Turkey leading to the recall of the turkish ambassador in Germany. Greece and the EU are keeping a close watch on developments over the days ahead, since the agreement between Turkey -EU concerning the refugee flows could be in peril.

And our week was concluded with the visit of the French PM, M.Valls and the Minister of Finance M.Sapin to Greece. The purpose of the visit is to provide support to the greek government in addressing both the economic and the refugee crisis.
